Prewrite
1. What are you good at?I am good at being on stage and pretending to be someone else.(an actress.)
2. How do you feel when you're doing the thing you're good at?I feel really good that I am doing what i enjoy!
3. How would you feel if people wouldn't let you do the thing you're good at?I would feel really bummed if I couldn't do
what i want to because i am only good and i enjoy one thing and one thing only.

Chapter 1
1. What problems or conflicts are presented in chapter one? Tao needing to find a rabbit is an obvious one; identify at least two more.
that hunting was not good because there weren't any animals to catch.and that he wanted to paint on the caves, but he knew that he would get punished badly.
2. Predict the resolution of each conflict.For the hunting he should of waited a while and go somewhere he doesn't go all the time and waited.
Chapter 2
What two important events happen in this chapter?He thought a lot about his mother and wondered why it was wrong what he wanted to do. Another one is that he thought that an animal was coming inside the cave but it was just a wolf that he saw and he talked and acted
nice with the wolf.
Chapter 3
1. What do Tao and Ram learn to do together?they learn how to hunt and communicate with each other.
2. What decision does Tao tell Volt?Since Volt didn't let Tao keep Ram, Tao was really mad but yet he followed Volt's
rules and his perspectives and said he would hunt by him self and he would not give any to Ram and will give everything to him.
3. Look at Tao's decisions and actions from Volt's perspective. Pretend you are Volt. Write a first person paragraph explaining how you feel.
I would feel that Tao wouldn't need to keep the dog because I am not feeling what Tao is feeling but if I were Tao
it would make a difference and I would feel the reasons of why they would of kept Ram.

In a good paragraph, describe Tao's mother. Start with an interest grabber. Then write your topic sentence. Give three details or examples to support your thesis. Use a quotation from the chapter.
Tao's mother was sweet and really caring. She was really smart too. She made really cool things maybe they were used as tools also.In the story the people wanted to kill Tao and his mother stood up for him and didn't let them.

1. Which two animals does Tao try to draw?He tried to draw a wolf , and a lot of horses.
2. Which is easier for him and why?I think the horses were easier for him because he started to draw a lot of them.
Chapter 6
1. Graybeard realizes that Tao has broken two taboos of his clan. What are they?They are about drawing pictures on the caves and keeping Ram.
2. Which taboo doesn't he know about yet?About painting in the caves.
3. Graybeard describes Volt differently than we have. What aspects of Volt's character is Graybeard acknowledging?
He is saying that Volt is a good man ,but he says that too much he dreams of evil and spirits.
Chapter 7
Write your reaction to the last paragraph in the chapter. Do you agree or disagree with Graybeard? Is what he says true for those times, but not now? Or, is the reverse true: was it not true then, but true now?I disagree with Graybeard because if he wanted to draw in the caves it wouldn't be fair to him as it is to tao, so he should think about it.

An important theme in this novel is that people should follow their dreams and do what they believe is right, even if they don't follow their society's expected ways.
The author examines this theme in a stone age setting. Imagine a similar situation today.
What situation did you imagine?I imagined an artist that's dark colored and they didn't let him become an artist because of his skin tone and because of his heritage background.
In the situation you imagined, should the person follow his or her dreams or should they follow society's rules? Give your opinion.I think he should follow his dreams because he is not going to live again and there wont be another opportunity.
Yes I do think that person should follow their dreams because they won't have another chance of being what they wanted.

Why do you think Graybeard changed his mind?Maybe because he over thought about it and said to himself why shouldn't he follow his dreams,but he should just be careful.
What does this tell you about his character?It tells me that he can nice and mean at times.

Do you think Graybeard is a good teacher? Why?Because he is strict and firm but slowly he gets nicer and teaches better at times.
Would you like to have been taught a skill by him? Why?Yes, because he would be a strict yet really good at a subject I want to learn about and he'll get nice at times.

1. Name some of the ingredients used to make paint. Which surprised you most?
Fish oil,animal fat,and blood.The blood surprised me the most.yuck
2. Why is Tao afraid at the end of the chapter?Because he is afraid Graybeard might die.
Chapter 13
1. Even if Ram had succeeded in hunting the deer, do you think it was a good idea of Tao's to "show off" his dog's ability to hunt? Explain.No because they would of maybe still been taking it away because Volt would of been embarrassed and might
of wanted to still play strong.
2. Predict what will happen next. If you've read ahead, invent an alternate scene.I think that they're still going to chase
Tao because they don't want Ram and because Volt is really mad and embarrassed.

Tao crosses the river because he needs to get away from Volt and his clan.

He reaches the decision of actually getting to teach Tao.
